Biddeford Public Works Food Drive

Teamsters Local 340 Biddeford Public Works Employees collected 1/2 ton of food for a local area food bank.

"The did a good job, they filled the need that exists after the holiday" said Terrence J. Hanlon, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 340.

In December the members asked the coordinators, of the friends of Community Action Food Bank, when they most needed food. Food Bank officials said the need is especially great after the holidays when shelves become bare.

The Teamster employees of Biddeford Public Works went to work. Two members even brought their sons along to collect food door to door and from area businesses. They spent December 15th and 22nd collecting the 980 lbs of food and money. The members presented the food and money to the Food Bank on January 3, 2002.

The Teamsters and its members at Biddeford Public Works department wish to thank all who supported their efforts.

On Monday April 25, 2004 Alan Joy was presented with an award from Teamsters Union Local 340 for his outstanding service to the members of Teamsters Union Local 340 and the Saco Clerical Unit.

Alan has been a member of the Saco Clerical Unit negotiating team for many years and has worked diligently to see that the team had the necessary information, facts, and figures to negotiate a strong Collective Bargaining Agreement. His leadership and hard work has been monumental in securing many of the benefits the clerical unit currently enjoys today.

Alan has retired; we wish Alan and his wife Maureen well and hope they enjoy what is ahead of them to the fullest. May they continue to enjoy their leisure time with their family and friends. We thank him for all he has done for all of us.
