Brothers and Sisters,

What a great weekend! We are thrilled to report back that the first Maine AFL-CIO Worker Candidate Training Class was a fantastic success.

20 workers, from all corners of Maine and a variety of sectors and union backgrounds, gathered together to develop the skills needed to run for elected office.

Over two full days we had sessions on campaign planning, core union values, what it's like to serve in the Legislature, clean elections, developing volunteers and a campaign team, and how to do a door-to-door campaign. Sunday was a day-long workshop with Wellstone Action! on message and developing a stump speech with personal stories.

Some of the members of the class are definitely running in 2012, while others are considering running some day. Others also attended so they can help their fellow workers on campaigns.

Huge thanks go to all of the presenters who took time on their weekend to share their knowledge and experience with our class.
